Arguably one of Japan’s greatest Shojo Mangas and Animes has been confirmed to have a live-action adaptation in production. Romantic comedy Ouran High School Host Club by Bisco Hatori is one of the most popular Shojo manga in Japan and the western world, and had an anime adaptation consisting of 26 episodes helmed by the famous Studio BONES (Fullmetal Alchemist, Soul Eater), which is available on DVD now from Manga Entertainment UK. The anime ended back in 2006, and the manga concluded just under a year ago, but this is not the end for this franchise it seems.
Ouran High School Host Club follows the story of scholarship student Haruhi Fujioka as she enters the elite school of Ouran and is mistaken for a boy. She ends up working with the boys of the host club to pay back a debt for breaking a vase, and thus romance ensues as well as deep friendships.
The live-action adaptation will be shown on the TBS network in July in Japan only, although there is no doubt that if successful, this drama might be available on our shelves in the near future. The cast for this series has been revealed as follows, Yūsuke Yamamoto will be the Host Club President, (King) Tamaki Suō and Haruna Kawaguchi has been cast as the heroine, Haruhi Fujioka.
