Famous for numerous voice-acting roles in anime, including Ouran High School Host Club, Soul Eater, and Vampire Knight, we get a quick word with Vic Mignogna, about one of his most famous roles: Edward Elricin Fullmetal Alchemist …
Q: To begin with, how does it feel to reprise your role as Edward Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood? Are you enjoying it and was it difficult to go back to his character?
A: I am so excited and honoured to be playing Edward again! He is definitely one of the best characters in anime, and one of the favourite roles I have played. It was a little scary to have to go back to FMA after the first series turned out so good. I was a little worried at first…. “What if it’s not as good? What if I’M not as good?” But within the first few episodes, it felt very familiar and comfortable.
Q: Is the character of Edward in Brotherhood much different to when you played him before?
A: I don’t really think of Ed as “different”, but just new adventures for the same character.
Q: How is the recording going for the rest of the series? Are you near completion?
A: I am close to the end of the series. I have recorded through episode 58 of 64, so it’s getting really intense! I have purposely not known how the series ends, so I am very excited to record those final episodes. I’ve heard that the ending is awesome!
Q: Finally, can fans hope to see you at a convention in the UK this year?
A: I am expecting to be at the MCM Expo in London this year. I’ll look very forward to seeing all the UK fans there!
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Part Three will be released on DVD on the 21st February 2011.
